Air France targeted by EU anti-trust probe: company

12 March 2008, 17:33 CET

(PARIS) - Air France acknowledged on Wednesday that it had been targeted by a European investigation into alleged price fixing on flights to Japan.

Air France confirms that it is involved like other companies in the investigation by the European Commission into flights between the European Union and Japan," the group said in a statement.

The European Commission, the top anti-trust regulator in Europe, said Tuesday its investigators had raided a number of unnamed international airlines on suspicion that the carriers may have operated an illegal cartel.

Dutch carrier KLM, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air France, had said on Tuesday that it was among the companies targeted, as did Germany's Lufthansa.
