Job summary
The Directorate General Statistics (DG-S) develops, compiles and disseminates the statistics required by the ECB to conduct its monetary policy and perform other tasks. DG-S is seeking a highly qualified statistician, econometrician or economist to fill the position of Research Analyst in its Euro Area Accounts and Economic Data Division.

The successful candidate will be expected to work on a project that aims to enhance the timeliness of the quarterly euro area sector accounts. Hence, his/her key tasks will involve:

  • contributing to the development of econometric models to test the predictability of the different components of the euro area sector accounts and evaluating the performance of the models;
  • completing data sources by means of econometric models and estimation techniques in order to enhance the timeliness of the compilation of quarterly euro area sector accounts; and
  • contributing to the implementation of the econometric models and estimation techniques in the regular production environment for compiling quarterly euro area sector accounts close to ninety days after the reference period by mid-2010.

Applicants are expected to offer a range and quality of skills in line with the requirements of this position. The project should be completed by mid-2010
