On this website you will find topical information about inland waterway transport in Europe. The promotion of this eco-friendly and efficient mode of transport is a cornerstone of the EU's transport policy. For this purpose a multi-annual action programme was launched in 2006: NAIADES – Navigation and Inland Waterway Action and Development in Europe.
