(BRUSSELS) - European Union and Russian leaders did not discuss this week whether EU monitors could deploy to Georgia's rebel regions, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Wednesday.

"This is something that was not discussed at that point in time," he told members of the European Parliament, referring to a summit Monday led by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.
